Thoughts 2022-04-04: My Perfect Wife

My Perfect Wife

One year left to live,

How many left for you?

Twenty, forty, maybe more!

Who knows what tech can do?

I will take the easy road,

But you will have the hard;

And that, my love, breaks my heart:

You, Living on, hurt and scarred.

It's not fair for you,

Living on with grief and pain.

I go to sleep; never wake up

You try to sleep in vain.

I hope you heal

And move on down the line.

I will sleep much better,

Knowing you'll get on just fine.

My last request,

From you, my lovely bride:

Once I'm gone, find happiness,

Of the magic kind.

Remember me and smile,

But please no tears and woe.

My life was almost perfect,

Much better than you know.

Please be happy;

Please enjoy your life.

That is what I need from you,

For me, my perfect wife.
